We had a pretty perfect Fourth. Time with people we love in a valley we adore.

I know not everyone was so lucky.

I’m not going to stop going to parades. But I’m also not going to stop advocating for making them and all other public places safer. I haven’t been vocal this year about everything that’s going on in the country. Don’t mistake that for complacency. I’m still engaged. I’m still working and reading and participating. I’ve just pivoted to doing that work mostly offline. If you’d like to have a conversation with me in person where we can meet each other as human beings who love each other, I’m totally up for it sometime.

We celebrate America, not because it’s perfect, but because it’s our home and it’s worth working on.

People who got rid of their wedding dresses, how did you do it? It’s too old to be accepted as a donation at the wedding dress donation places I’ve looked up. I’m sure my daughters will want their own style. It is huge and the hanger I was storing it on disintegrated, dropping black dust all over it. So now I either need to pay to have it dry-cleaned again or just get rid of it.

Why is it so hard to let go?

The final option I thought of was cutting off the skirt and train and using some of that fabric to make blessing or baptism dresses for my possible future grandchildren? I don’t even know if that’s worth saving.
